it's always something new

yes, life with a small toddler is never dull (for long, anyway)- there's always something new! take this morning... it's only 8.30 and already it seems cole has put in a full day. he got up an hour ago... we rushed to have breakfast since he didn't get his snack last night. he ate almost a whole serving of oatmeal which is more than he usually eats. and after tearing around the living room with his toys, he's now standing at the window saying "tuh, tuh" really quietly. there are some construction vehicles going in and out of the daycare/school/church across the intersection, so it could very well be that he is, in fact, saying "truck". then again, he sees daddy come home almost every day, so maybe he's watching for kelvin. on the other hand, he could just be making random noises... who knows. time will tell, i guess!

last night during meeting, cole was a total munch... he started out really well, then had a massive dirty diaper during prayer and after that, things went downhill. he was pretty restless, and i had a tough time reaching the diaper bag on the floor (hmmm, could it be the belly??) and by the time we got home, i was so relieved that he was asleep that we skipped his bath and snack and i just replaced his jeans with some soft cotton pants and stuck him in his crib. he slept the whole night! this morning, he melted my heart... i went in to get him up and usually we play a round or two of peek-a-boo over the side of the crib. i put hy hands on the rail to start playing, as usual... he grabbed one of my hands and put it against his side, under his arm, then did the same with my other hand. he looked up with this sweet innocent expression- guess he knows how to get his point across! there was no mistaking what he wanted; i had no other choice than to pick him up and squeeze him and got a huge hug back. oh, what a sweet little boy!!!!
