tom came to town

according to the tour schedule on the tom pease website, he was supposed to be at longfellow elementary in clintonville last night, doing a family program. lucky us, longfellow is a block away-we can see it from our living room. so we got out the stroller and took a walk down to see if tom was around. sure enough, as soon as we opened the doors, we could hear music and feel some energy...... and that would be tom, in the maroon shirt and khaki pants. staurt stotts is the guy with the guitar- he collaberated with tom on several albums. the photos turned out dark because i was using the little point-and-shoot. but you get the idea! this one was funny- it was a song called "daddy starts to dance" and most of the dads in the audience participated. it was a hoot!

cole was a bit unsure at first, what with the sudden bombardment of music, people and all. perfectly understandable... but eventually he adjusted, saw all the other kids running around and off he went!

see, off like a shot!! his main interest, of course, wasn't tom, the stereo equipment or the other kids... it was the gym mats at the very back of the room. and the rolling ball cage, that was intriguing too.

i didn't think kelvin would be too impressed, but he had fun!! we even got our wobbi-dob album autographed for the kids. i'm telling you, this man is a wonderful family performer. the energy, the fun... you can tell just by watching that he loves having the kids running around. like, genuinely likes it, not just tolerating it because it's his job. i was SO impressed! i remember when i was in elementary school he came to sing two times... i missed both. finally, i got my chance! we'll definitely take the kids again, should be get the chance. anyway, when tom had all (well, many) of the kids up front with him doing the belly button song, i thought i'd bust from laughing... it was hilarious! and he ended the program with "love grows one by one", rather fitting! oh, i'm so glad we went! maybe next time we get the chance to go, cole will be old enough to understand and maybe even participate.
